CAPT David Boris, USA
Captain David Boris, U.S. Army
KIA November 12, 2007
Dave Boris
Dave Boris is remembered by a former Plebe from his West Point Company this way: “I learned more about leadership from him than any other upper-class Cadet at the Academy.” A co-captain of the Pottsville Area High School soccer and swim teams, Dave lived his life as a leader, role model, and mentor to many.
On November 12, 2007, Army Captain David A. Boris was killed when his vehicle struck an improvised explosive device (IED) in Bermel, Afghanistan. Dave was a 1999 graduate of the US Military Academy and was Commander of Anvil Troop, 1-91 CAV. He is buried at St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Branch Township, PA, and is survived by his wife of eight years Jaime, parents Al and Diana, sister Jennifer and a niece and nephew. He was 30.

Dave is remembered by fellow Pottsville and West Point graduate as a “quiet professional, supremely dedicated to being the best man he could be.”
Today, CAPT Sean Donahue, USA, is serving a Mission Continues Fellowship in Dave’s honor, incorporating Dave’s selfless service and examples of leadership as a volunteer hockey coach for Lowell High School in Lowell, MA. One of Sean’s goals is to “give [students] an example of how to conduct themselves on and off the ice.”
