The world around us is constantly changing. If we hope to maintain our country’s leadership position we must change with it, and that change must start now and it must start with building character.
This symposium, with supporting curriculum, offers real life stories and interactive program elements to introduce skills that demonstrate the service, compassion, teamwork, leadership, and courage necessary for success in these challenging times. It offers participants perspectives and insights that are highly engaging, focused, and transferrable. More importantly, these perspectives are relevant to true character building, and they can be continually managed, evaluated, and measured on a personal level.

Offered by The Travis Manion Foundation, Character Does Matter puts symposium participants in the hands of Eric Greitens of the Mission Continues and Ryan Manion Borek of the Travis Manion Foundation for a fascinating ride through life’s real struggles and hope for the future.
To schedule a Character Does Matter symposium, call 215.348.9080 or e-mail teamtravis@travismanion.com. It will be one of the most powerful and talked about experiences of all participants’ lives.

Eric Greitens, founder of The Mission Continues, and an Angier B. Duke Scholar at Duke University, studied ethics, philosophy, and public policy. Selected as a Rhodes and a Truman Scholar, and attended Oxford University. There he earned a master's degree in development studies in 1998 and a Ph.D. in politics in 2000. Eric is also a United States Navy SEAL officer, and he has deployed four times during the Global War on Terrorism to Iraq, Afghanistan, the Horn of Africa, and Southeast Asia. He has served as the Commander of a Joint Special Operations Task Unit, Commander of a Mark V Special Operations Craft Detachment, and as Commander of an Al Qaeda Targeting Cell. Eric's book of award-winning photographs and essays, Stregth and Compassion, grew from his humanitarian work. His doctoral thesis, Children First, investigated the ways in which international humanitarian organizations can best serve war-affected children. In 2005, Eric was appointed by the President to serve as a White House Fellow. Eric is a Senior Fellow at the Truman School of Public Affairs at the University of Missouri, where he teaches on public service, ethics, and leadership.
