Ronald Hemenway and his father Robert
Ronald Hemenway displayed a unique sense of curiosity as a young man growing up in Alaska. He spent much of his 20s moving from state to state, working a variety of jobs searching for his dream. Those dreams began to unfold when he joined the U.S. Navy as an electronics technician – loving his job, meeting the love of his life in Marinella while stationed in Italy, and having two beloved children with her.
On September 11, 2001, 1st Class Petty Officer Ronald Hemenway, was killed in the attack on the Pentagon while assigned to the office of the Chief of Naval Operations. He was 37 and left behind parents Robert and Shirley, wife Marinella, two children Stefan and Desiree, and five siblings. A marker stands to Ronald’s memory in Arlington Cemetery.

Ronald was able to share his love of electronics with his father – who himself worked in electronics in the Air Force – and formed a special relationship because of it. Ronald is remembered as a man eager to improve himself for his family, as a co-worker and neighbor willing to help, and as a man who would rather give to others than receive.
Today, Army Sergeant First Class Louis Hicks is serving a Mission Continues Fellowship honoring Ronald Hemenway’s memory and his service to our country.
