'If Not Me, Then Who...' Resonates in Atlanta

By Tom Sileo

It was a great week for the Travis Manion Foundation in the Atlanta area, starting with Ryan Manion Borek's live national television appearance on HLN and culminating with the creation of the first annual Manion Award at this year's Junior ROTC drill competition at Parkview High School in Lilburn, Georgia.

The trophy, which has "If Not Me, Then Who..." engraved on the front, is named after fallen Marine 1st Lt. Travis Manion, who made the ultimate sacrifice in Iraq on Apr. 29, 2007.

Moments before the 2012 Parkview Marine Corps Junior ROTC Invitational began on Jan. 28, Ryan Manion Borek, Executive Director of the Travis Manion Foundation and Gold Star sister, had the opportunity to speak to aspiring warriors and their families.  She was introduced by Marine Gunnery Sgt. David Erwin, who was kind enough to invite Ryan to the competition.

Thank you to Gunnery Sgt. Erwin, Parkview High School, and all the Junior ROTC competitors for giving Ryan the opportunity to spread the Travis Manion Foundation's message of service and sacrifice.
