Lance Corporal Daniel Morris, USMC
KIA, February 14, 2007
With his mother Carol
Since he could walk and talk, Daniel Morris dreamed of joining the military and serving his country. In the absence of his father, Daniel worked three jobs as a senior in high school, played trumpet in the Wilson Memorial High School band, and considered himself the “man of the house” for his mom and little brother Jon.
On February 14, 2007, Lance Cpl. Daniel Morris, USMC, was killed in action in Al Anbar province Iraq. He was 19. Daniel, a rifleman with the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Regiment, was awarded a Purple Heart for his bravery and sacrifice. He is laid to rest in the New Providence Presbyterian Church cemetery in Raphine, Virginia.

Daniel told his family Marine Boot Camp was one of the “most difficult and rewarding” experiences of his life.
Today, Sergeant Dwayne Malone, USMC, (Ret.) is serving a Mission Continues Fellowship in Daniel’s honor to “encourage other disabled veterans no matter how life gets them down” by volunteering at the Smith Recreation Center at Ft. Benning, GA.
