SGT Jeffrey A. Reed, USA
Sergeant Jeffrey A. Reed, U.S. Army
KIA March 2, 2009

Jeff Reed’s lifelong passion for soccer resulted in victories for teams like the Chesterfield Flames and LC Bird High School in his youth, but also ensured moments of joy in the Middle East with his friends and Iraqi children alike. On his final tour in Iraq, Jeff was able to organize a big shipment of soccer balls for local children.
On March 2, 2009, Army Sgt. Jeffrey A. Reed was killed by a grenade launched at his vehicle in Taji, Iraq while deployed with a military police company helping train and support the Iraqi police. Sgt. Reed has been laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park in Chester, VA.

The Reeds – father Mark, mother Mary, wife Ashley, and others – heard from many of Jeff’s soldiers after his death, calling to tell them how much he meant to them and how much he’d be missed.
At the time of his death, Jeff was just 15 days away from completing his second 15-month tour in Iraq.
Jeff believed in service to country more than anything, and today, Sgt. Justin Zabel, USA, is serving a Missions Continues Fellowship in Jeff’s honor with the goal of continuing his service to our country and “making a difference in someone’s life.”
Sgt. Zabel was honorably discharged from the Army after his truck was hit by a roadside IED in Iraq.
