SPC Kristofor Stonesifer, USA
Specialist Kristofor Stonesifer, U.S. Army
KIA October 19, 2001

Kris Stonesifer defined himself as a lover of truth and as a man who lived for his family and friends. When the study of philosophy and a college ROTC program didn’t challenge him enough, he set off for Ft. Benning, GA and the Army Ranger School. The Rangers gave purpose to his passion for the outdoors, for living off the land, and allowed Kris to join the “establishment” on his own terms.
On October 19, 2001, U.S. Army Specialist Kristofor T. Stonesifer was killed on a rescue mission near Kandahar, Afghanistan. He was one of the first two casualties of the war on terror and was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for his actions. His ashes are spread over Upper Holland Lake, Montana, and a memorial stone stands in Arlington Cemetery to his memory.

In his final letter home, this lover of nature reassured his family that “I’ve had a good life and I’m happy to have spent it with all of you.”
Today Sergeant First Class Terri Lewis USA is serving a Mission Continues fellowship in Kris’s honor. To continue his spirit of service, Terri works with families preparing for deployments to ease the stress on Army families.
